It takes a long time to grow apple seeds into bearing trees and then to harvest and evaluate the resulting fruits. We've been doing that very consistently for 32 years, and we're being rewarded with exceptionally high-quality, unique, exciting apples!

One thing that has been evident from the beginning and still prevails is that there isn't anything you can eat that everybody likes. And, if you have a group of people tasting the same apple, you'll often hear one person say it's sweet while another says it's tart. That means you can't write something about any apple that everyone will agree with. That's okay. I'm having so much fun!

Several weeks before this writing, I had a mini-tasting with a couple and their daughter from Locherbie, Scotland. I scurried to get Golden Earl, Nectarapple, and Live Music to sample. We all tried them, and each of the tasters, while saying they liked all three varieties, readily chose a favorite. We ended up with three favorites from three apples for three people. That made the score Golden Earl 1, Nectarapple 1, and Live Music 1... a tie.

There's no better argument for why we love to grow lots of varieties.

Nevertheless, I do vote Live Music "the best-flavored apple on the planet." I'm not saying whether it's Country, or Rock 'n' Roll, or Jazz, or Classical, or...
